Hey. Well my name's Amy, I'm a digital media student, and I'm somewhat afraid of this class. I've never done anything in the way of 3d design, and my computer is a bit sucky, so I'm not sure how much of it it can even handle. Although despite that, I'm excited to find out just what the class is about and actually learn how to use these cool programs. I don't have a whole lot of hobbies outside of art and drawing, but I am decently interested in the concept of video game design. This school doesn't technically have that as a concentration, but I feel as though classes like this one are a logical lead in to the general area of game design.
Artist Research 3 - Camille Utterback
Camille Utterback is an artist that works with interactive and digital mediums. Many of her pieces involve movement technology in order for the audience to change what they see. She also uses LED lighting in many of her projects, showcasing how light and color bounce off of certain objects. Her artwork captures people's attention longer than most exhibits would, because of the way human influence effects the overall outcome. Personally, I always found interactive exhibits more interesting than simply a hall of instillation or pictures. It showcases that art can actually be enjoyable for both the creator and their intended audience. Plus, it usually doesn't involve the museum goers having avid knowledge of different artistic movements and styles, and instead just focuses on the pretty colors and technology.
